Mister Mike and His Nice 'C' Model Baby Ace
A very sporty Baby Ace airplane!
This is one sporty looking little Baby Ace airplane! Whenever I find another Corben Baby Ace online somewhere I cannot wait to add it to my website. I get very excited and impatient to get it posted. I guess that is because the Corben Baby Ace is the finest little airplane that I have ever flown. After all, I had two of them at the same time; a ‘C’ Model and a ‘D’ Model. I can tell you this; my earlier prior flying experience was in a Piper J-3 Cub that I had purchased to learn to fly in. That J-3 and me had some marvelous times in the air. As I later owned several other Piper J-3 Cubs I marveled at how safe I felt flying in them, I believed that I could land them anywhere during an emergency (which I did more than once over the years) without being hurt - just as long as I did not stall it as some do in stretching a glide. The Piper J-3 Cub is a marvelous airplane to own and fly. But once I purchased a Corben Baby Ace and flew it, the J-3 Cub no longer compared. The little Baby Ace airplanes fly so easily and feel so lite and responsive. I won’t say that the Baby Ace feels as secure as the J-3. My impression is that the J-3 has more float and lift when flying alone with only a pilot on board. What I am saying is; the Baby Ace is a delight to fly - and safe to fly - when proper due diligence is observed. I believe that any J-3 pilot can easily transition to a Baby Ace without fear once 50 or more taildragger hours are logged. Something about the open cockpit, slower landing speed and its’ nimbleness in the air makes the Baby Ace a champion flyer!
